Our Philosophy

At Duo Interior Design, we believe that great interior design is most effective when it thoughtfully combines tasteful finishes with practical solutions. We base our client-centered design plans on details that cultivate a sense of sophistication and comfort throughout every room. Our goal is for your home to be warm and welcoming to family and friends by being a timeless reflection of who you are and how you live.

 The Duo Difference

Our Style

A Duo Interior Design space is stylish, yet warm; cozy, yet functional. We customize each home with a sophisticated blend of pattern, texture and color using distinct fabrics, wall coverings and furnishings that reflect our clients’ every day lives and lived experiences.

Because no two families are the same, we love incorporating special touches through meaningful pieces of art or much loved family heirlooms; pieces that turn a house into an enduringly inviting home. A home that is a timeless reflection of those who dwell in it.

Meet Molly

I have always admired people who have real passions. My mother is one of those people. When she had her design business and I was much younger, I would often accompany her to client visits throughout Colorado and Arizona and learn all about textiles, lighting, furniture and everything that it took to make spaces functional, safe, and beautiful.

Fast forward to today, I continue in her footsteps, but I am also making my own! With my boys off to college and a husband in the travel industry who shares my wanderlust, we venture further and further afield each year - even during COVID! - immersing ourselves in different cultures, spaces and environments and all of the emotions and behaviors they elicit. There is nothing more meaningful to me than being welcomed into another person’s home and observing how they live and discovering the essence of what makes their home truly theirs.

Meet Valerie

Growing up outside of Boston, I learned the art of making a house a home from my parents. My mother instilled in me a sensibility for interior design at a very young age, and my father worked in residential home construction, teaching me to recognize and appreciate quality home construction at all levels.

What I love most about interior design is the gratifying feeling that comes with taking spaces from a blank slate to a beautifully designed, yet livable home. I particularly love researching vendors and sourcing the perfect fabric, piece of furniture or light fixture that reflects my client’s personality and lifestyle. I also try to learn as much as I can from the vendors and tradespeople with whom we work on each job because it is their knowledge and expertise that is crucial to ensuring the success of every project.

Prior to interior design, I worked for more than a decade in consultative sales and marketing in commercial banking in the US and Europe.  By its very nature, consultative sales is hyper focused on the needs of the customer vs. the product that is being sold. I would never have guessed that the skills I used then would translate so perfectly into the world of Interior Design today.
